Ms. Valencia L. Moore, known as “Val” to family and friends, was the baby girl born on February 18, 1971; to the late Catherine Louise Williams, she was a native of Quincy, Florida, and was educated in the public school system of Gadsden County from James A. Shanks High School in 1989.
After graduating she was asked by her family in Tampa to come and live with them so that she could have more career opportunities to excel. She moved to Tampa in 1991. She worked as a part-time clerical assistant with the Hillsborough County Court System and for H&R Block customer service.
Valencia was converted at the age of 12 on June 1, 1983, on a Wednesday night under Reverend Hollingsworth's revival; she was baptized on Sunday morning June 8, 1980; she was reared by her mother, whose faith in God had been successfully passed on to her children. After relocating to Tampa, Valencia considered her faith a valuable and precious conviction to hold on to. Shortly after moving to Tampa, she began going to church with her family. She joined Brown Temple COGIC, under the pastoral leadership of then-Elder Matthew Williams, she enjoyed singing and joined the choir of Without Walls Church. Valencia embraced what her mother taught her about Jesus- “if your mother has ever taught you anything about Jesus, you’d better hold on to it because somewhere in your life down the road you’re going to need it.”
Valencia was preceded in death by: her mother, Catherine Williams; and sister, Cathina Williams Anderson.
Valencia leaves to cherish her memories: two loving sons, Sterling James Ortiz, and Stephen Quinton Moore; brothers, James A. Williams (Gloria), Walter L. Williams, and Lonza L. Williams Sr; sisters, Synora Ellis (Coleman), and Rowena Wilson (Curley); nephews, Tyrone Williams, Timothy Williams, and Lonza L. Williams, Jr; nieces, Stephanie Williams, Litisha Solomon, Clarissa Williams, Nikole Ellis, Shannon Williams, and TaSondryana Williams; and a host of family and friends.
