Mr. Nathaniel “Cigar” Washington of Wimauma, Florida, entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at First Prospect Missionary Baptist Church 6012 Edina Street, Wimauma, FL 33598 with Pastor George Cooks, Pastor- Eulogist, and Pastor Kenneth L. Muldrow, Presiding. Interment will follow in Wimauma Community Cemetery. MASK RECOMMENDED.
Mr. Washington was born on June 22,1929 in Manatee County to the late Thomas Sr. and Azalee Davis Washington. Nathaniel received his education in the Manatee County Public School District. He was a faithful member of First Prospect Missionary Church of Wimauma, Fl, and a member of the Mt. Pilgrim Deacon’s Association.
America without her soldiers would be like God without his angels. There is nothing nobler than risking your life for your country. That sacrifice is the pinnacle of patriotism. Mr. Nathaniel Washington served in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after serving many years. He went on to work for the International Longshoremen Association Local 1402 in Tampa Florida and later retired to spend some quality time fishing, playing checkers, and hanging out with friends. Nathaniel lived a long and lively life.
Nathaniel was preceded in death by: his father, Thomas Washington Sr.; mother, Aza Lee Davis Washington; brother, Thomas Washington; special cousins, Samuel “SL” Muldrow, and Robert Lee Young.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his caretakers, Patricia Young, and Emma Freeman; special cousins, Retha Brown, Charles Allen, Charlie Young of Wimauma, FL, Christine Young of Tampa, FL., Joyce Mathurin of Palm River, FL., and Lois Aldrich of Trenton, New Jersey; and a host of other family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. MASK RECOMMENDED.
