Pastor John Denis Mileon Homidas Obituary

Pastor John Denis Mileon Homidas was born on May 19th, 1949, to parents Joseph Mileon Homidas and Marie Germane Joseph (both deceased) in Port Margot, Haiti. He was the eldest of his brothers and sisters: Arnault, Jean-Claude (deceased), Solomon (deceased), Miliene, Mari-Mene, Mimose, Michee, Monie, Wilson, Nahomie, Matide, Daniella, Jamesey, Morel, Job (deceased). He took his last breath on January 17th, 2024, at 11:47 PM.

While in Port Margot, Haiti, John Denis Homidas attended elementary school/primary before going to high school at Diquini, Adventist University of Haiti in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Years later after high school, he became a father to his first 2 sons, Max, and Denson with his former spouse Rosemarie Porcenat. He later traveled abroad to Mexico to further his education where he studied electronics. After completing his studies in Mexico, he then traveled to New York.

While in New York, he met his current wife, Egide Homidas, and had 2 more sons, John, and Johnson. The family eventually moved to Tampa, FL, and built a new life together. During this time, he continued his higher education by attending Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. While at Andrews he received his B.A. in Theology and Education. After completing his studies at Andrews, he returned to Tampa and began his pastoring at several churches, including Jerusalem SDA, Philadelphia, SDA, and Horeb SDA. He also became a teacher within the Hillsborough County School District where he taught at Armwood High School, Gaither High School, King High School, and Plant High School.

His departure comes as a great shock and is gravely felt by his entire family, including, but not limited to: his wife, Egide Homidas; sons, Max, Denson, John, and Johnson; daughters-in-law, Annie Homidas (Max), Rose Myrlande Homidas (Denson), and Pelancia Homidas (John); grandchildren, Dendya and Ardens (Mother Ramelle), Kristie, Micah, Heidi, Faith, and Adina; siblings, Arnault, Miliene, Mari-Mene, Mimose, Michee, Monie, Wilson, Nahomie, Matide, Daniella, Jamesey, Morel, and their families which include numerous nieces, nephews, and countless cousins; as well as the families of Michel Homidas, Jacque Milien, and Raoul Ducatel.

Although we are saddened by John Denis Homidas’ departure, we celebrate knowing that he is now at rest waiting for the 2nd coming of our savior, Jesus Christ. Our family also thanks everyone for your support and prayers during this difficult period in our lives.
