Paul Grant Obituary

Mr. Paul Leslie Grant of Tampa passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021.  Graveside Funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 with Reverend James Sykes, officiating.  Interment will follow.  Please follow the CDC Guidelines.  Masks are required.

Mr. Paul Leslie Grant was a native of Panama City, Panama and a resident of Tampa for 30 years.  He was educated in the private Seventh Day Adventist schools of Queens, New York where he was a graduate of Greater New York Academy.  While in high school, Paul was a skilled basketball player and was regarded as one of the top point guard talents in New York City.  He competed against numerous legends such as, World B. Free and Earl “The Pearl” Monroe. 

After graduation, Paul enlisted into the United States Air Force and served his country as a Security Specialist for Royal Air Force Base, Lakenheath, England and Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, NY until his Honorable Discharge.  After relocating to Tampa, Florida Mr. Grant was a member of St. James A. M. E. Church of Progress Village and was employed as the Supervisor of Security at the Port of Tampa.  Paul made friends everywhere he went, and he loved serving others. 

He was a staunch believer in God and cherished the Word of God.  He was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed repairing homes, painting, gardening and watching his beloved sports-such as his hometown, New York Knicks.

He was preceded in death by, his father, Odin Meredith Grant; and brother, Stephen.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Selina McKinley-Grant; two sons, Justin Grant and Michael Grant; four daughters, Chelsea Grant, Breanna Grant, Leslie Grant and Brittany McKinley; and a daughter in law, Anika Grant; 12 grandchildren; his loving mother, Gloria Grant; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
