Prentice Shellman Obituary

Mr. Prentice Kino Shellman of Tampa, Florida, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33606. Interment will follow on Monday, January 17, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.

Prentice Kino Shellman was born on July 27, 1967, in Tampa. He attended Plant High School and graduated in 1986. In his younger years, he worked a summer job at the Ybor Boys and Girls Club where, he enjoyed mentoring children. He also played youth football for the West Tampa Spartans--the greatest to ever do it. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged in 1991, he attended Paul Quinn College in Dallas,Texas and graduated in 1996. While matriculating at Paul Quinn College he became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He relocated to Louisiana and was a Deputy Sheriff with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Department. Years later, he relocated to Tampa, and became a Police Officer with the Tampa Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wilbert and Louise Russ; aunt, Charlotte Russ-Manns; uncles, Wilbert Russ, Jr., Eddie Joe Shellman, Freddie Shellman and Ronald Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two beloved sons, Temariq Shellman and Jordan Shellman of Tampa, FL; parents, Sandra Russ Shellman-Andrews (Donnie), of Defuniak Springs, FL, and Frank Shellman III  of Tampa, FL; paternal grandparents, Frank C. Jr. and Rosa Lee Shellman; siblings, Latashia Shellman-Johnson, Frank Shellman IV, Demetra Shellman, Astin Shellman, and Ahmad Watkins; nieces and nephews Quiara, Phillip Jr., Tahj, Briana, Jorice, Demetrius, Jada, Myra, Nykil, Ahmad, Kristen, Ahmadia, Amaria, Joy, Molly, Tyi and Aadyn; aunts, Valerie Pearce, Cynthia Williams, Michelle Granville (Ralph), Patsy Hilliard, Delores Russ-Parker, Sheila Russ-Harris (Willie), and Cheryl Russ-Danzey; uncles, Lesley McCaskill, and Edward Clemons; first cousins on maternal side, Carnelle, Gerald, Tina, Lorenzo, Edward, Carol, Jason, Cleshauna, Erica, LaRhonda, Tequila, Anequa, Kenneth, and Sierra; first cousins on paternal side, Eddie Joe, Jr. (deceased), Kim, Mark, Tomoca, Toya (Chris), Kelvin, Zena, Roland (Ramonita), Roxanne, Rhonda (Eric J.), Treva, Antonia, and Candace; honorary brothers, Duane Brooks and Paul Jason Seguin; favorite cousins, Kelvin Pearce and Roland Williams (AKA “The Three Amigos”); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Shellman will be on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33606. MASKS RECOMMENDED.
