Mr. Raleigh “Bob” Nelson Jr. of Wimauma, Florida passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 18, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 5909 Vel St., Wimauma, FL, with Reverend Deryl Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Wimauma Community Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson was a lifelong native and resident of Wimauma for most of his life. He attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Sun City High School. He had a long-lasting career in mining at the chemical plants and was currently enjoying retirement after 40 years in the industry.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by: his parents, Raleigh Nelson Sr., Willie Mae Wilcox and Step-Father, Lonnie Menzo Wilcox Sr; children, Riley Nelson Sr. and Melanie Nelson; siblings, Leroy Nelson, Harold “Ray” Wilcox and Carolyn Wilcox Rhodes.
Cherishing memories of Bob are: his wife, Geneva Nelson; loving children, Randall Nelson (Denise), Sheryl McKinley (Earley), Roderick Nelson (Michelle), Keith Nelson, Kimberly Nelson, Cordell Nelson and Kenerick Nelson (Darlene); devoted siblings, Laura Ann Berrien, Phyllis Parker, Alvin Wilcox, Lonnie M. Wilcox Jr, Peggy Wilcox, Alex Wilcox (Virginia), Patricia Roberson, Maxie Wilcox (Gertha), Robert Wilcox (Melissa), Theresa Wilcox, and Brianna Wilcox; beloved grandchildren, Dwayne Taylor II, Ramon Wilcox-Nelson, Riley Nelson Jr, James Stephen IV, Braeden “Riley” Nelson, Kaiymon Stephens, Kenyatta Stephens, Javion Stephens, Kanesha Taylor, Lisa Nelson, Erika Nelson, Brittany Nelson, Jalynn Stephens, Chandra Redfield and Bailee Nelson; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Oakley, Aniyah Wilson, Joshua Howard, Alaiza Banner and Denaye Nelson. Also cherishing memories of Bob is his devoted friend Betty Nichols of Lakeland, Florida; specials friends, Joe Don Carrie, Willie Lee Dexter, Herman Gay II, Robert Berrien Sr., Louis Cooper, Hazel Jackson, Leroy Burroughs and a large host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, who will miss him deeply.
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, January 17, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
