Renaye Howell Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Lady Renaye Elaine Howell of Tampa, FL who transitioned on Sunday, August 29, 2021 will be held at Cathedral of Faith Church, 6304 N. 30th Street where her brother, the Apostle James H. Howell, is Senior Pastor. The Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 with a Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon.  The Service will begin promptly at 12:00 Noon. Bishop Michael E. Dantley of Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship of Cincinnati, OH will be the Eulogist.   Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

Renaye was born August 6, 1954 and was raised in Tampa by her maternal grandmother, Mother Roberta Peoples. She attended elementary parochial schools in Tampa, as well as Blake High School then moved to Manatee County and graduated from Manatee High School, Class of 1972. She continued her education at Hillsborough Community College and at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Renaye was formerly employed by Leontyne Price Group Home in Atlanta, GA, Hillsborough Community College and Work Force Tampa Bay. 

Renaye was an outstanding bible scholar and student of the Gospel.  She had an extensive library of Christian commentaries, books, and study guides.  She was a faithful and loyal member of The Cathedral of Faith for thirty years. Renaye had the opportunity to travel the world abroad many times along with her besties, Karen Kugblenu and Andrea Mante.

There are many lifelong lasting memories with her lifetime friend, Elder Dr. Gwendolyn Trice (Reverend Sam Trice) of Miami, FL.  Renaye’s other favorite past time was going on shopping sprees with her brother. She was admired for her immaculate appearance, her sassy strut, her jovial spirit and her beautiful smile.

In her transition she will be cherished with precious memories by: her loving and caring brother, Archbishop James H. Howell and Pastor Marzetta; a caring sister, Deborah George; devoted sister cousins, Evelyn Bennett (Charles) and Scelestine Davis of Atlanta, GA; a host of nephews, Joel H. Howell (Heather), Jamel H. Howell, Jireh H. Howell, Jaydlin H. Howell and Willie George Jr. (Tanya); her beloved niece, Chinua George; great nieces, Amani George and Joslynn Howell; great nephews, Judah, Josiah, Jasper, Jeremiah and Ji’aire Howell; cousins, Tanya and Addison Shepherd, Charles Bennett, Jr. (Wyntress), Charles Henry III of Murfreesboro, TN; Barry Davis, Jr. (Kiana) and Gus Davis of Atlanta, GA, J.D. Hismith (Betty); her Godson, Devontae Perry; Goddaughters, Sibil Renaye Trice and Brittany Satchell; special friends, Tanya Stone of Atlanta, GA, Reginald Bolton, Harriett Scott, Donia and Michelle Donnell, Cynthia Brady and family, Mother Dosia Hart, Carolyn Brooks, Cynthia Chipp, Seanther Coley, Valerie Johnson, Kimberly Webb and the Cathedral of Faith Church Family.

MASKS ARE REQUIRED AND CDC STANDARDS WILL BE ADHERED TO.
