The Honorable Mrs. Betty Reed passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Bible-Based Fellowship Church of Temple Terrace, 8718 N. 46th Street, Tampa, FL 33617, Pastor Earl B. Mason, Sr., Officiating. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. MASK RECOMMENDED.
Betty was a native of Pelham, GA, and a resident of Tampa for 65 years. She attended National Louis University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences. She was a member of Bible-Based Fellowship Church of Temple Terrace and was employed as a State Representative for District 59 and 61 in the State House of Representatives from 2006-2014.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Maggie Mae McClendon; father, Samuel Jack McClendon; sisters, Maggie Cooney and Glenda McClendon; brothers, Johnnie McClendon, Willie Gus McClendon, and Donnie McClendon; and grandson, Alton Jefferson II.
She leaves to cherish her memories: beloved husband of 65 years, James Reed; five children, Levetta Jefferson (Alton), James Reed (Beverly), Michael Reed (Paulette), Lorenzo Reed (Stephanie), and Cametra Edwards; one daughter-in-love, Lawanda Love; a host of granchildren, Tenisha Reed, Michael Reed II, Tyandre Reed (Candace), Laarian Reed, Moses Jefferson, Ajani Edwards, Eden Edwards, Saniyah Reed, Lorenzo Reed, (in love) Alton Jefferson II (deceased), Maletha Love, Milton Green, Jeremy Green, Zuri Moultrie; siblings, Eula Mae Anderson, Jack McClendon, Jr., Peggy Johns, Roy (Louis) McClendon, Eugene (Bobbie) McClendon, James McClendon (Linda), Ronnie McClendon (Kim), Bobbie Jean Davis, Betty Johnson, Brenda McClendon, Riley McClendon (Regina), Gloria Reese, and a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved family and friends.
The visitation will be held Tuesday, May 31, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. MASK RECOMMENDED.
