(Ret) Sgt. Relisa Weaver-Taylor Obituary

(Ret) Sgt. Relisa Weaver-Taylor of Hephzibah, GA passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, 2:00 PM at Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1207 N. Jefferson St. Tampa, FL., Reverend Arthur L. Green Jr., Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Relisa Weaver Taylor was born November 22, 1971, to parents, Stanley James Weaver Sr. (deceased) and Effie Weaver in Tampa, Florida. At a young age Relisa accepted Christ and became a member of Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Youth Usher Board. Relisa graduated from Hillsborough High School, Class of 1989. She attended Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL where she earned her Associates of Arts in 1994. After graduating from Hillsborough Community College, Relisa followed her patriotic spirit and answered the call of duty to serve in United States Army. Relisa served in the United States Army for 22 years until she retired in 2018. Following her retirement from the Army, Relisa was employed as an Executive Assistant Secretary for Charlie Norwood Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Relisa also became a proud and dedicated member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Queen of the South, Amaranth, Heroines of Jericho, Cyrene Crusaders, Imperial Court Daughters, and an Auxiliary of the AEAONMS, INC.

 

 

Relisa Weaver-Taylor was preceded in death by: her father, Stanley Weaver Sr.; brother, Byron Weaver; grandparents, Dessie Bell and Talford Weaver and Roberta Williams; uncles, David Barlow and Percy Williams; and aunts, Wanda Woodbury and Racheal Nethercott.

Relisa leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Shameece Weaver, Diant Taylor, and Mykael Taylor; grandchild, Xy’Viana Ligons; mother, Effie Weaver; brothers, Stanley James Weaver Jr., and Javaris Weaver; sister, Kayneeia Weaver; seven aunts; seven uncles; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memories.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2023, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL, 33606.
