Ronald Williams Obituary

Mr. Ronald F. Williams of Tampa passed away Monday, August 10, 2020.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. at New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, 1605 N. Nebraska Avenue, Pastor Donnell Williams, officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Please follow the CDC guidelines.  Masks are required. 

Mr. Ronald F. Williams was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida.  He was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School, Class of 1968 where he was a star quarterback for the Football team and pitcher for the Baseball team. 

Mr. Williams enlisted into the United States Army where he served his country for 8 years as a Military Policeman.  After his Honorable Discharge, he began his second career as a Manager with NAPA Auto Parts where he served his community for 30 years, prior to his failing health. 

Mr. Williams also served his community as a volunteer Football Coach and eventually Football Commissioner of the West Tampa Spartans for over 20 years.  Mr. Ronald F. Williams will be remembered as an “Mentor and Father Figure” to many in the Tampa Community. 

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mr. Willie James McNeil and Ms. Frankie Jones; sister, Elaine Hicks; and brothers-in-law, Eddie Joe Shellman and Freddie Shellman. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Cynthia L. Williams; children, Roland (Emma), Rhonda (Chauncey), Roxanne, Tameka (Raymond), Dion (Phelan), and Ronnie (Michelle); grandchildren, Alyssa, Roland Jr., Niya, Ramon Jr. “Scootie Poot” (Brenna), DeAndre (Brianna), Aria (Martel), Ariel (Nick), Marchalo II, Manny, Sophia, Terrance (Ileana), Tanknekia (Charles), Eboni, Chris, Alexis (Ron), Eboni, Dontae (Nadia), Derek (Tavia), Damian, and Mariah; a host of great grandchildren; siblings, Jacqueline, Kimberly (Maurice), Doyle, Patsy, and Cephus; sisters-in-law, Valerie and Michelle (Ralph); brother-in-law, Frank III (Jackie); aunts, Bernice, and Lodie (A.C.); uncle, Ernest; nephew/son, Kelvin; nephews, Donald, Tony B., Prentice, “Lil Butch” Brim and Deurian; nieces, Tasha, Dionne, Shawanna, Anita, Nicole, Kim, Zena, Tomoca, Toya (Chris), Tashia (Tony), Demetria, Katavia, “Bootsie” Niki, Candice, Samantha, Brittany, and Delia; like a daughter, Trellis and Dee Dee; special pastor, Harold D. Lewis, Sr.; lifelong best friend, Fletcher (Carolyn); friends, Johnnie (Cynthia), Brother John, Chuck, Mr. Bolden, Ronnie (Gloria) and Coach Ross; special mention to Davita Medical Center, Dr. Jayesh Shah, LifePath Hospice Indigo Team, Tyer Temple UM Church family, West Tampa Spartans Family and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. 

The remains will repose from 3-7pm, Friday, August 21, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
