Rosa Brinson Obituary

Mother Rosa M. Brinson of Tampa passed away Friday, November 6, 2020.  Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, November 21, at 1:30 p.m. at The Center For Manifestation,3102 East Lake Avenue, Apostle Dr. Mark T. Jones, Sr., Senior Pastor with Apostle Donald R. Lott, Pastor of True Worship International Ministries, officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.  Please follow the CDC guidelines.  Masks are required.          

Rosa M. Brinson a native of Fort McCoy, Florida born to Wiley Pettigrew and Gracie Bell Chandler Mack.  She was reared by her mother along with Kiser Mack; her aunt, Viola Chandler and uncle Frizzell Chandler. She was a graduate of Fessenden High School, Ocala, FL, Class of 1954 where she was a basketball "star". She furthered her education and attended Bethune Cookman College, circa 1955-56.

A cosmetologist for over 40+ years, she owned and operated a hair salon with her good friend, Noreen Finklea - LaRosa and LaRene Hair Salon and ended her career at the Orange Blossom Community building and salon. Rosa was a leader within the community through Orange Blossom Cosmetology Association as well as serving as the Tampa local unit President for many years. She also worked for a number of Community based organizations to include the National Urban League and the Neighborhood Service Center. 

Rosa was a faithful church servant - New Progress Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend Williams; New Mt. Zion, Rev. Bobby Jones; Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend James Marion and Zion Hill in Marietta, Georgia.  Her final membership was with True Worship International Ministries, Apostle Donald Lott and she was provided spiritual guidance faithfully up to her final days by Mrs. Dorothy James and her husband. 

Ms. Rosa married Mr. Samuel L. Muldrow in 1957 who came with a bonus son, Sammie L. Muldrow, Jr. (wife Patricia) (who both preceded her in death). 

She was blessed with five biological children, Antonio A. Muldrow (deceased), Aurelio R. Muldrow and wife Connie Schick of Wisconsin, Kenneth Muldrow and wife Dorothy, Sandra Muldrow and Sabrina Muldrow.  Rosa married again and united in holy matrimony to Mr. Grant Brinson in 1978 (who also preceded her in death) and was a mother to his son, Gilbert Brinson.  She was loved by and will be truly missed by her children; 9 grandchildren, Shayla, Ashley, Sharod, Kenneth, Renaldo, Sonja, Jasmine, DaMarius and DeMaria; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; devoted and cherished Mack siblings, Mary Morand, Ocala, FL, Tommie Lee, Council, Lorenzo, Hezekiah, Helen, Joe Nathan (Gainesville) and Willie Pettigrew (Fordham) in Daytona Beach; loved by a multitude of nieces, nephews, high school friends, cousins, in laws, Willie Mae and Betty Mack; many, many devoted family and friends in Tampa, Atlanta, GA and Mason, OH over the years that provided love, support, kindness and care throughout her journey.  Thanks to the many nursing and patient care staff at the University Village and Tampa Lakes Facilities that treated her and called her Mama Rose. 

The visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, November 20 at Ray Williams Funeral Home. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines.  Masks are required.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Sportskids Foundation in honor of Rosa M. Brinson Scholarship. This scholarship will help future cosmetologist and college bound female seniors in 2021.
