Ms. Shirley Rhodes Cooper of Tampa passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020. A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue with Reverend Rayford Harper, Pastor of First Baptist Church of West Tampa, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Shirley Rhodes Cooper was a native of Sylvester, Georgia born to Mr. A. B. Rhodes and Mrs. Eula Stafford Rhodes. She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and furthered her education with Hillsborough Community College. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Tampa. She retired after 30 years of dedicated service mostly in the Law Industry. She began her career with the Department of Health; worked as a Paralegal with the Law Offices of Henry Nobles and Admin Clerk with the State Attorney’s Office.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlton Cooper; and siblings, Charles Rhodes, Allen Rhodes, and Gladys Tate.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving son, Alec Muhammad and wife Wanda; loving grandchildren, Alyssa Young, Japine Rhodes, Legion Rhodes, Walter Muhammad, Angel Muhammad, Alton Muhammad, Khalid Muhammad and Yusaf Muhammad; a host of great grandchildren; siblings, K. C. Anderson, Vera Anderson and Fanny Coleman; nieces, Delois Hemmingway, Peggy Williams, Michelle Tate, and Stephanie Tate; nephews, Lorenzo Rhodes, Buddy Tate, Chucky Rhodes, Arenzo Rhodes and Tony Rhodes; a host of cousins, other relatives and special friends, Eugene Anderson, Wanda Davis, Mr. & Mrs. Nobles, Mary Lewis, Mary Gibson, Barbara Cooper, Valerie Johnson , Claudette Harrell and many more.
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Ray Williams Funeral Home.
