Solomon Chipp Obituary

Mr. Solomon Chipp of Tampa passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 23 at 11 a.m. at Cathedral of Faith Church, 6304 N. 30th St. with Apostle James H. Howell, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.  All family and friends must follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing. Masks will be required at all services. Mr. Solomon Chipp was a native of Midway, Georgia and a resident of Tampa for over 30 years. He attended Todd Grant High School in Darien, Georgia and was a member of Cathedral of Faith Church in Tampa where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.   Solomon was employed with the City of Tampa for over 20 years in the Stormwater Operations Department.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph and Mary Wilson Chipp; his sister, Mary J. Ford; and his brother, Julius Dunham. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving wife for 36 years, Cynthia Ann Chipp; children, Solomon Chipp, Jr., Schuwanne Chipp, Katrina (Michael, Jr.) Oliver, Kevin (Leticia) Campbell, LaTonya Campbell (Omari), Jermaine Adams, Psalms Chipp, and Ai’yanna Chipp; grandchildren, Zion Martin, Kevin Campbell, Jr., Campbell Oliver, Kira Washington, Khai Campbell, Kaliyah Campbell, Michael Oliver, III, Keilani Campbell, Oaklyn Hickman, Malachi Chipp, Remy Lazarus, Kenneth Owens, Kaiziana Owens, Kyarah Owens, Jaiden Adams, Keyani Taylor, Kiera Starling, and Dariah Banks; sisters, Remel Riley and Charlene Burgess; mother-in-law, Fannie Coleman; brothers-in-law, Kent (Gail) Coleman, Willie Coleman, Jr., Ignatius (Karol) Mitchell and Jimmie Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Cathryn Mitchell, Patsy McCaskey, Kimberly (Jesse) Carpenter, and LaQualla Dozier; God-children, Dayna Curry and Family, Teliah Lewis and Family, Aramis McHayle, Zaydan Goulbourne, and Jamison Espinosa; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Special friends, Willis and Sandra Everett, Gary Williams, David Hill, John and Sylvia Alfred Williams, Dian Brown, Deborah Johnson, David and Dorothy Coleman, Ronnie and Margaret Price, Dinah Orr, Vernon Jackson, Kelene Robinson, Robert Henry, Annie Crump, and Clarence Everett. 

The family would like to express special thanks to Jeffrey B. Starling, M.D., Petronilla Benjamin, the ALS Foundation, and The Cathedral of Faith Church Family.   

The visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 22 and the family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. at Cathedral of Faith Church.  We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines.  Masks are required.
