Mrs. Thelma Fulbright-John of Tampa passed away Friday, February 14, 2020. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Northside Church of Christ, 6906 N. 50th Street with Brother Antonio Seay, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mrs. Thelma Fulbright-John was a native of Camilla, Georgia and a resident of Tampa for over 50 years. She was educated in the public schools of Mitchell County, Camilla, GA and in the mid 50’s she relocated to Daytona Beach, FL, Volusia County where she met and married her husband, Mr. Joe John, Jr.
She began her career in Food Service at Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, FL where she was a dedicated employee until 1968. Mrs. John and her husband decided to move their family to Tampa, Florida where she was a member of Northside Church of Christ and retired after 50 years of dedicated service as a Dietary Supervisor from Tampa General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Mr. Gordon and Mrs. Carrie Mae Fulbright; and husband, Mr. Joe John, Jr.; sons, James Edward Mills and Steven Lawrence John and daughter, Janet B. McCoy.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children, Sharon M. Washington, Debbie T. Duncan (Charles), Pamela B. Burns and Monica Renee Duncan (Robert); daughter-in-law, Troyland Mills; grandchildren, Lawrence Tucker, Charles Duncan, Jr., Lester McCoy, II, Ebony Duncan, Lahkoyah McCoy, Deon McCoy, Robert Duncan, III, Mario Duncan (Tashae), Joseph John, Sara Burns, Octavia Burns, Cory Burns (Bianca), Daphne Oliver, James Edward Mill, II (Joe) and Erica Mills; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Mrs. Gloria Prather of Daytona Beach, FL; aunts, Mrs. Willie B. Dukes of Albany, GA and Mrs. Ozie Bell of Camilla, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and her church family.
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, February 21 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
