Ms. Vassie Lee Guyton of Tampa passed away Friday, November 13, 2020. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 21 at 4:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, with Pastor Willie J. Haynes, officiating and Reverend Richard Woodberry, eulogist. Please follow the CDC Guidelines. Masks are required.
Ms. Vassie Lee Guyton was a native of Headland, Alabama born to Corine Thomas-Bowick and J.C. Lango. She attended school in Hillsborough County. She loved to listen to gospel music and travel on tours with the Harmony Winds. She was devoted to her family, friends, neighbors, and church members. She loved to travel, shop, dance, and dress in high fashion. She was a dedicated and devoted member of New Greater Hope M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie J. Haynes and her previous church, New Progress M. B. Church.
Vassie was preceded in death by: her husband, Dennis Guyton, Sr.; mother, Corine Bowick; father, J.C. Lango; sister, Mary B. Ayers; and grandparents, Vassie and Ike Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving son, Dennis Guyton, Jr.; aunts, Nellie Clayton, Ola Mae Moore and Arie Dozier; brother, Bob Lango; nieces, Enethenia Lango-Salmon and Patricia Ayers-Hendley (Derrick); great nieces, Chandra Valdez, Elegetta Salmon and Briana Ellis; great-great nieces, Chantelle Valdez and Chamira Valdez; great nephews, Warren Ellis, III, Brandon Ayers-Ellis and Marcus Ellis (Katie); great great nephews, Brandon (King) Ellis and Christian Valdez; cousins, Shan Morris and family, Marie Graham and family, Vanessa Williams and family, Beverly Severson and family, Roy Ashley and family, Connie Ashley and family, and Mike Ashley and family; devoted friends, Hamilton Hunt and wife, Ethel and T.C. Pittman and family, Reverend Richard and Sandra Woodbury; God-daughters, Georgia Clemons, Hillary Hunt and Wanda; God-sons, Hamilton, Pierce and Peyson Hunt and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, November 20 at Ray Williams Funeral Home. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
